Characteristics of a two and a half year olds behavior

My two and a half year old-Jeremiah Wong.

2 1/2 year olds are rigid and inflexible. They want exactly what they want, when they want it. They cannot adapt, give in, wait a little while. Everything has to be done just so. Everything has to be right in the place they consider proper. For any domestic routine, they set up a rigid sequence of events which must always follow each other always in exactly the same manner.
They are extremely domineering and demanding. They must give orders. They must make the decisions. If they decide, “mummy do”, daddy cannot be accepted as substitute. If they decide, “Me do it myself”, then no one is allowed to help them, no matter how awkward or incapable they themselves may be.
2 1/2 is an age of violent emotions. There is little modulation to the emotional life of children this age.
It is an age of opposite extremes. With no ability to choose between alternatives (it is almost impossible for 2 1/2’s to make a clear cut choice and stick to it). Children of this age shuttle back and forth endlessly between two extremes, seeming to be trying to include both in their decision. “I will - I won’t”, “I want - I don’t want it”, “Go out - stay in”. If someone doesn’t cut into this back and forth shuttling, it has been known to go on for upwards of an hour or more. The decision of what clothes to wear may ursurp a whole morning for a conflict-ridden 2 1/1 year old.
Another characteristic of this is age is preservation - that is, the children want to go on and on with whatever they are doing. Not only right at the moment but from day to day. If you read four stories before bedtime yesterday, they want four stories - and the same ones, too - today. It is very difficult with many children this age to introduce new clothes, new pieces of furniture, new things to eat. They want things to go on just the way they have always been or at least hold on to the old as new things are added.

Farewell Joe Boy

Today marked the day that Joe Joe Boy, a pet which had been through thick and thin with us had finally passed on.

We all missed him badly. Even now as I wrote this blog, my tears couldn't stop flowing. This is the 1st time that we witness the death of an animal and it turned out to be our beloved Joe Joe boy.

I could still recall the day we went to SPCA to choose a dog for our family. He was in the cage with this poodle. This poodle was so busy showing off stunts and tricks hoping that we would choose her. Joe Joe boy (he was then named Picasso) was a quiet little dog, hiding at one corner, and wagging his tail at the sight of us.

He caught our eyes, and we decided to bring him home. It wasn't easy to adopt a dog from SPCA, as rules and regulations of SPCA states that all the family members whom are living in the same household will have to be present at the point in time when the dog was adopted.

I recall the first day we brought him back, and being in a new environment, he would love to roam around the house. There were many times where he could just squeeze through the main gate of the house as he was too skinny then. After many months of love and care showered upon him, he soon put on weight and couldn't squeeze through the gates anymore.

There were times when I strolled with him along the road, and, being a dog, he would roam and smell each and every corner till he found the spot to do his business. There was once when he was done with his business and he stayed at that particular place for more than 10 minutes and I got curious. So I called out to him and right away he started to move towards me but he avoided eye contact with me. This was indeed strange, so I bent down to look at him and guess what, there was this little white bone(chicken wing) that was in his mouth. I was too shocked to see him holding the bone in his mouth and realised why he avoide eye contact in the first place. It wasn't difficult to notice the white bone as he is a BLACK dog.

There were times when he would pester us for food when we gather at the table for dinner. He would stand on his paws and ask for food, and bark at the door if you accidentally locked it.

There was this once when I have finished cooking a bowl of noodles. Joe Joe was right underneath my hands holding the bowl of hot soup. As I didn't notice that he was right infront of me, I missed a step and the soup spilled on my hands instead. I guess everyone's natural response would be to let go of the bowl and let it fall to the floor but when I saw Joe Joe right below the bowl, I withdrew that thought. I held on to the bowl tightly fearing that it would cause him more hurt if I were to let go. It was so painful that even if I were to emptied the ice from the freezer, the pain wouldnt go away. That incident really left a strong impact on me and till now I am paranoid of bringing hot soup out of the kitchen.

There were times that my siblings and I were afraid of losing him. We make it a point every now and then to make sure that he is still breathing even when he lay on the floor to sleep. For the past few months that Joe Joe is still around, little Jeremiah will definitely be looking around for Joe Joe waiting to have fun with him. Joe Joe is more afraid of Jeremiah than Jeremiah is of him. Jeremiah would touch his tail and his body and giggled when the Joe Joe boy felt uneasy with the touch. It was fun looking at Jeremiah interacting with Joe Joe boy.

The day has finally come for him to leave us as he was old . He was 11 years old when he left us, which was equivalent to 77 years of human age. Today, Jeremiah knew that something was wrong as all he could do was to peep through the door and all he could see was Joe Joe boy laying motionlessly on the cushion. Jeremiah asked: "Mummy.... why?" as he pointed at Joe Joe, I told him that Joe Joe was tired and now he needed to rest. Jeremiah would then walk away.

His departure didn't came as a surprise to us but nevertheless, we still feel sad and refused to touch on the topic. I really hope that he is in a better place now and hope the atmosphere at my mum's would eventually get better.

He will always fondly remembered in our heart.

day 8 - taipei part 4 (taipei 101) and Home

Today is the day that we are heading towards Tallest Towers in the World "Taipei 101" but before setting off, we had to settle down for a good breakfast at Mcdonalds.

Below are the pictures shown for our breakfast for the day.

The Taipei 101 Tower of Taiwan is the tallest building on Earth. Its height above ground is 509.2 m. This includes the 60 m spire; the building also holds the record for the highest roof (440 m).

The Taipei 101 Tower contains the world's fastest and most comfortable elevators. The building is thrilling to look at, an impressive tribute to steel, glass and incredibly clever engineering. And yet the design clearly reflects the local Chinese culture; for example, there are eight canted sections, eight being the lucky number in Chinese. Each section is embellished with a traditional Chinese symbol of fulfillment, the symbols being large enough to be visible from the ground.

here's the view from the 91st floor. the cars and people look really really tiny, i tried to use the spyglass but it doesn't help. much.

Vibrations are damped by suspending a massive steel ball weighing 606 tonnes; steel is a wonderfully dense material; the volume of an aluminium ball would be some three times as large, which is intolerable for such an elegant design. The ball is suspended from the 92nd floor to reduce lateral vibrations. The ball is in fact made from a stack of steel plates of varying dimensions. It is connected to pistons which drive oil through small holes, thus damping vibrations. (The ball is just behind me if you stare really carefully at the picture)

day 7 - taipei part 3

on day 3 in taipei, for we headed up to 石林夜市 in the evening - we went exploring via taking the MRT (they call it the same name in english here, too) where I was very happy to wear my new cap bought during lunchtime.

here we see Mummy's favourite stop in the entire holiday - Cold Stone's Creamery ice cream. Daddy tells me they mix and crush the ice cream + the ingredients on a cold stone... hence the name...

but the uncles there would not allow Daddy to take a picture of the 'mixing' process, nor of them tossing the ice cream around - a little like the japanese fish market i saw on tv - except its with ice cream - not fish :)

I am savouring this nice little puffs with bits of custard - which Mummy bought from
石林夜市 a store just below the MRT station.

day 6 - taipei part 2

this was situated at the eastern end of the 木栅内湖 / brown line. the journey was pretty short - about 30 minutes. and the panda bear was the key difference between that and the zoo we have back in Singapore.

Back at 大车轮 jap restaurant at 西门 station, this was my very yummy dinner. Looks good, doesn't it?

day 5 - taipei part 1

before we set up for our 2 hour train back to taipei from hua lien - this is a very nice picture of my yummy breakfast

thereafter, once we got to 台北 and after we checked into our TS Hotel which was a 1 minute walk away from 西门 station - we headed off to 淡水 to check out the markets and sights...

This is me enjoying the nice aircon at the 7/11 ... taiwan apparently has a extremely large network of convenient stores (otherwise known as 便利店), where you can find food, magazines, drinks, even 茶叶蛋... apparently taiwanese love it cos its in each and every 7/11 store... and one of their competitor chains - called "FamilyMart" - even sells diapers for me :)

day 3 - 花莲海洋公园 (Ocean Park)

This was my very lovely breakfast on Day 3 of my taiwan trip.

Mummy's breakfast also looks very yummy - nicely done omelette with a side fresh salad + chicken nugget - all courtesy of the nice people at 玫瑰园民宿

Mummy took these pictures along the 20 min drive to Farglory Ocean Park... cos she felt the fluffy clouds look very lovely as it surrounded the tops of the mountains.

Bukit Timah? Clouds ? No... Maybe pollution ... :)

Ocean Park was built into the side of a seaside slope. The entrance to the park was actually 3 stories up via escalator... thus, what you see above is a the scenic view as we walked to the 1st child friendly attraction of day 3 of our taiwan trip.

What happened to day 1 & 2 some may ask? Well, we spent it travelling to and fro singapore / taipei / hua lien... you get the idea?

Below is a picture of Daddy and Mummy taken in the mini ferris wheel, as can be shown I have drifted off to sleep.... snnnnnnnnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............

I especially liked the aquarium.

In fact, Daddy was concerned I would miss it altogether as I was taking my afternoon nap... thankfully the nice aircon helped to wake me up just in time at 145pm... for the 2pm feeding time show where we saw lots of sting rays... large large ones.... and 1 huge nursing shark... and many many more creatures of the sea.

in the evening, we went out to one of the 夜市 which was about a 10 minute drive via the taxi. this is what it looks like -

Daddy also spent quite a fair bit of time (and money, apparently) trying to retrieve this toy which i set my little eyes upon...

See how happy I am? (the smile is a little forced, but hey, no one's perfect. :) hahaahahhahaha

day 2 - 花莲

Wake up! Wake up!

Rise and Shine.

Today, we woke up really early, earlier than I have ever woken up since I was a year old. This morning, the sunshine shot through the glass window at 6 am, yes you read right... its 6 am only and it looked as if it was 7am which it gave us a wrong impression at first.

Well it was a good idea to wake up early as we are going out for breakfast at the Hotel's lounge before leaving for Taipei train station.

Daddy was busy packing up the stuff and I, busy with the TV programmes. What about Mummy? She will be our photographer for the whole of this trip thus she will be busy with snapping here and there. :)

Below showed a picture of the lounge where we took our breakfast.

This was us playing while having breakfast, again we never let go of any chances to play whenever this was. :p

After the breakfast, we headed straight for the train station, where we experienced a few hiccups along the way. First, it was the unexpected rain, 2nd it was the stairs, can you believe it, there wasn't any lift and both the Daddies had to lug the luggage down the long flight of steep stairs.

Yes entering the station, Aunty Claudial was busy looking out for the correct signage to the train which we were taking.

This was the "VICTORY/ 盛力" pose by Aunty Claudial and Kiet Kor kor.

Luckily we were there in time, we were about 10 minutes earlier than expected there we rested for a while. While waiting to board the train I fell asleep in the Ergo Carrier. It was a great sign of relief as Mummy was still thinking how to keep me entertain onboard the train... the train ride was for another 2 1/2 hours.

Problem settled!

The Sleepy Little Jeremiah.... snoozing away for the next 2 hours .....

I was awoken by the discussions that was going on while I was asleep for the past 2 hours and yes its only half an hour before reaching our destination and I am up and ready to go.

Yippee we finally reached Hua Lien Train station, and there will be someone fetching us from the Hua Lien train station to Rose Garden Min Su. The ride will take less than 15 minutes.

Before we left for Hua Lien there was this old lady, she owned a store just at the 1st floor of the hotel at where we stayed for the 1st night in Taipei.

She warned us about the occasional showers in Hua Lien and that it will pass really quickly. True enough, on our way to Hua Lien there has been light showers throughout the whole train ride.

This is the lovely hotel (known as a 玫瑰花园民宿) that we stayed in 花莲 for 3 nights, from 13 sep till 15 sep 2009. If you stare really hard, there is a small door where there will be a long flight of stairs leading us up to the Min Su.

This is the reception area where the customers surf the internet and have their breakfast every morning. There are 3 stories altogether and we stayed at the 2nd storey.

i love the timber flooring.... cos it makes my footsteps sound large. not sure whether the aunties and uncles staying there agree though :)

After checking in, the Wongs rested for the whole afternoon and woke up only around 7.00pm to start looking around for food. When we stepped out of the Min Su we got a shock, it was so dark outside. We thought it was already 8pm but its showed 7.15pm on Daddy's watch.

This was a picture taken from inside the restaurant which we took our dinner, the dinner was satisfying and we headed back to the Min Su.

Above showed a picture of the very Happy Daddy with his laptop and he was surfing the net for the first time in Hua Lien. That makes him very happy, but while he was surfing, I missed my cartoons from Playhouse Disney, Cbeebies, Jim Jam etc. So I got Daddy to play a video for me and I was so happy that I started to sing along with the video.

day 1 - changi / taiwan

Hello folks, finally our long awaited trip to Taiwan has come, yes we're off!

The 2 pictures shown above were taken before we boarded the plane. Yes, there's another little boy in this picture, his name is called "Kiet". He is our neighbour, and my playmate for this whole trip.

This trip was pre-arranged by my parents and Kiet Kor Kor's parents as both of the families wanted to visit Taiwan. Ok, enough said, do stay tuned for more updates.

Finally after a 4 1/2 hour flight - we finally arrived at Taipei. By this time, it was already about 7pm. Thankfully, there was a nice 7 seater taxi waiting for us at the airport to fetch us to our first night hotel stay at Slove Hotel / Taipei.

This was where we stayed for the 1st night... Daddy told me we had to stay near the taipei central train station cos our train to Hua Lien (花莲) was very early on Sunday morning - at 830am.

After checking in, we washed up and immediately headed towards Taipei central train station to collect our train tickets to Hua Lien. On our way to collect the tickets, we took our dinner at some store near the train station.

The amazing bit about this was that the underground mall was full of small foodstores selling all kinds of interesting delicacies... as we walked further into the tunnel, we were overcome by this stench that caught mummy and daddy's noses and attention... and practically everything else. Can you guess what it was? Some of you might have guessed it, yes its 臭豆腐 otherwise known as smelly tou fu, its smell is akin to those smelly drains.... eeww...

As we were getting really hungry, we walked further in and finally settled down in a small stall selling dumplings. The stall didn't have a fantastic appearance but the moment the food was served, boy does it look and smell GOOD!!.

After we finished with our dinner, we had to return to the hotel for an early night rest as our train was 8.30am in the morning and we wouldn't want to miss the train. :)

Along our way back to Slove hotel, we passed by a 7-eleven store where we bought water and some other necessities. There I saw this toy fire engine that my eyes wouldn't leave, thus Mummy decided to buy it for me. This was my 1st souvenir from Taiwan... but not the last... wahahah.. :p

Day at the zoo....

Hi everyone,

Daddy and mummy thought it was a good idea for us to go to the zoo this morning. The last time we went was on my 1st birthday... and for those who remembered, it was raining heavily and not too conducive.

The zoo has really quite improved since the time my Daddy was my age... Grandpa was reminiscing that it didn't used to have any eateries inside (or at least, any good ones that he could remember) thus it was a real chore when one has young kids who need food / water / snacks etc (you get the idea...)

Nowadays there are plenty of food stops all over the place. Daddy paid for the tram rides and boat rides thrown in, thus it was a rather leisurely late morning / early afternoon walkabout.

Sorry, but not many pictures of the animals were taken today... just plenty of me and Grandpa. Like the one above (and below)

First Day at the Day Care Centre

Hello everybody, today I am going to show you my day care play school which Daddy and Mummy had enrolled me in.

No, I'm not going to playschool because Mummy wanted to go back to work, but rather it's due to all the pressure that Mummy had been getting for the past few months. So finally in other to put an end to all these, Mummy and Daddy have decided to scout around for a play school.

After much deliberation, finally its just like GOD heard my parent's prayers. There was a open house for The Little Skool House @ Namly Crescent.

Today is my first day of school and its going to continue for another week only. Why one week only? Well, it's because Mummy couldn't bear to leave me there for the following reasons:

- less attention that I've been used to receiving at home.
- exposure to the viruses that may be in the childcare centre
- I'm not able to feed myself yet, well, not enough to make me full...
(if only I can rely fully on tidbits, I don't think Mummy would worry... the self feeding process is 100% smooth - but ONLY on tidbits...)

* Mummy's list goes on and on... :p ooops ... simply too many reasons according to Mummy, why I can't be left at the Day Care at the current moment.

Food.. glorious food.. I smell food aunty, what are you cooking for us? :p

This was one of the boys who started crying the moment I stepped into the childcare centre. I didn't get the chance to ask for his name as he was busy crying all the time. Mummy suddenly realised that it was only the boys who were crying. Not sure why.. the only words that came out from the boy's mouth while crying were "I want Mummy"..

Ok enough of all the complaints. Finally after all the crying, Kor kor finally decided to play with me. We themed it "who's cooking tonight".

Watch me kor kor, I am going to cut up the egg!!

Kor Kor, what are you doing?? I thought you should be using a frying pan with a spatular..

It was not long after the other kids came back into the house after their out-door activity.... I'm managed to come back 1/2 hour earlier to catch a quick drink of water...

This was the room where all the toddlers of my age were gathered. Here, we were all being asked to sing and dance along to the music being played, afterwhich we get to learn some songs and animals in Japanese ... hmmmm... Though I don't understand must of it at all but I just played along too.. hehehhehe :p

Come students, Let's recite the ryhme!!

Mummy came to notice this little girl by the name of christine. She was looking at the cardboard and reading to herself. Her mumbling caught Mummy's attention, so Mummy went up to her and started reading it out loud to her. Christine gave Mummy a big "GRIN" and continue to follow-on as Mummy read the ryhme. All Christine does was to produce the same ryhme.

Are you interested to know which ryhme it was? It's called Little Mouse (小老鼠 )

Finally, it was time to do some art work. A Japanese teacher was teaching us how to make a Koi art work. Yes, I of cos gave my utmost very best attention to the teacher. I was playing with the glue most of the time and sensei (teacher in jap) had to hold my hand... heheh because the mischievous me is sticking the fin of the koi everywhere... :p

The tradition of flying carp streamers also originates from the Edo period, when it became practice to present little boys with streamers depicting a carp. These streamers, made of paper or cloth, are still hoisted on tall bamboo or wooden poles erected in the yard or garden. When the wind catches them, they appear to be swimming in the air like real fish. Originally one carp was hoisted for each son, a very large one for the eldest, the others ranging down in size to a small one, if there is a baby boy in the house

Our short getaway trip to HONGKONG - My 1st overseas trip (Part 1)

In order to celebrate my birthday in a special way, Daddy and Mummy (together with Grandpa and Grandma Wong) decided to bring me to Hong Kong to celebrate at Hong Kong DisneyLand.

This is the first time that I will be taking a plane. All the adults were really worried about how I will react during the flight. Thankfully, I was not really bothered by the air pressure as I was asleep for an hour and awake for the next 2 1/2 hours. During the 2 1/2 hours while I was awake, Mummy kept me occupied with the colouring book with crayons that she had bought last minute, as she thought it would at least keep me occupied for a while.

As they have been planning to bring along the notebook for this trip, Mummy packed all the DVDs of Barney and Little Einsteins. Dawn broke, and finally we are leaving for Changi Airport. While checking in our luggage, Daddy and Mummy suddenly realised that they had forgot to bring along their notebook. Luckily she packed the colouring book the night before, otherwise I wouldn't have survived the long 3 1/2 hour flight.

In the plane, we were served food which I enjoyed eating together with Daddy and Mummy while Grandpa and Grandma Wong were resting on the plane.

Time flew really fast and before we knew it, we arrived in Hong Kong. Finally touching down, we stopped by a cafe at the airport for some breakfast, afterwhich we took a cab to Disneyland immediately.

This picture was taken at the reception and the hotel is really gorgeous and full of Disney characters and designs. The hotel staff were really friendly and we were greeted where ever we went in the hotel.

If you stared closely in the photos, you can spot me playing happily in the background with some boys in the waiting area. Boy did I had fun!!!

Finally we are able to check into one of the rooms first while waiting for the hotel to get the other room ready.

Mummy was pleasantly suprised with the little slippers that was provided for me. :p

The rooms were so beautiful and big and best of all, I was given a baby crib. Daddy and Mummy had King Size bed all to themselves. :(

After resting for a while in the hotel rooms and with non-stop playing of Disney cartoons, I almost got stuck in the hotel room. When Daddy and Mummy mentioned to bring my to Disneyland, I quicky got up to look for my shoes and started to try wearing them myself. Yes - all by myself but ..... I thought it would be faster for Mummy to put them on for me.. heheheheheh :p

(Can't wait to get to Disneyland . :)

Just as we were about to leave the hotel, it started to rain. As the parade was going to start in the next 20 minutes, Daddy and Mummy had decided to brave the rain. We were all wearing our rain coats, despite that - we were all soaked. Don't worry I was very well protected by Mummy but it's my parents who got really soaked.

In order to get a better view of the parade, they had decided to get an umbrella as the rain got heavier. While walking into DisneyLand, Mummy had noticed that I was feeling sleepy. So as we finally found a place to stand and watch the parade along the walkway, I LITERALLY did fell asleep. Mummy and Daddy were panicking, I heard them calling my name and the music was deafening, but I was simply too exhausted from waking up early at 4.30am for the flight to Hong Kong, I .... I ... ZZzzzzzzzzzz

Against all odds, I am sleeping soundly. :p

So Daddy and Mummy watched the parade with me sleeping snuggly in the "Ergo Carrier". It was not long after they decided to head back to the hotel when the parade ended in less than 20minutes. We all took a rest in the rooms and rested really early that night.

The next morning, we woke up really early too. We headed down to "Chef Mickey" where the International Buffet was served and we had a lot of food. There were a delicious spread, including udon, cold soba, miso soup, fishball soup, egg tarts, bread, sushi, wanton soup, siew mai, bacon, eggs, ham, porridge and much much more. After our breakfast, I felt really sleepy again, I think it could be the blood that is rushing to my brain after a full breakfast. Thus we rested for about 2 hours before we headed out to DisneyLand for some rides and sight-seeing.

The days in Hongkong passed really quickly and now we are back home safely in Singapore. All of us were still reminiscing about the days that we were in Hong Kong. Not sure about the adults but I definitely had a great time in Disneyland. :)

Ooooh how I love the cars!!

Hi all, recently my love for cars have grown alot. Not sure why, perhaps its the wheels or the colour or the design. Hmm, but I just love em. Recently when I went over to my neighbour "Kiet" kor kor's house, I was playing with most of his toys and suddenly this car caught my attention. Its as shown in the pictures above.

Its body is made of rubber and wheels are made of plastic. It was love at first sight when I saw the car. Aunty claudia was kind enough to allow me to bring it back home for a few days.

Mummy tried very hard to divert my attention to other toys but I only had eyes for the car.

when Grandpa and Grandma Wong learnt about it, they wanted to get me the same car. Luckily Daddy recalled that he had seen the toy car at Takashimaya.

So Grandpa and Grandma Wong went down to Takashimaya to the toy store department to begin their quest. They searched high and low for it. It took them quite some time to realise that the chances of getting the same car was quite low.

Nonetheless, Grandma Wong was not going to give up though the sales person told her that there isnt any more of this design. Grandma Wong continued to use the picture that was taken from her camera to continue with the search. It was not long that she finally found one that looked exactly the same.

Now guess which is the new one? Tell me the difference... have fun.. :p

but as you can see, there're so many taller (and I do mean TALLER) kor-kors and jie-jies during during the children's worship session that I could barely see the words on the screen in front...

Haha, as if these matter to me very much. :) (maybe it would matter when I can read better.... in about 1-2 years or so).

A trip to the EAST

mummy brought me to visit her friend aunty adeline today - at this place called fernvale... which, daddy says, is a long long way from our home.... by any mode of transport, car / mrt / lrt / bus / taxi... well, enough said, it's far away....

i enjoyed my time there playing with aunty adeline's son - darius - who is 15 months old, or about 8 months younger than me...

the "key highlight" of the afternoon session was darius's toy tool set which was Handy Manny.... it was really nice with battery operated movements and all...

thereafter, we visited daddy's friend uncle weng, aunty bliss and riley kor-kor at punggol.... and boy, did we have a good time running up and down the living room... pity mummy didnt manage to take any photos.

but am sure there'll be more sessions next time? right mummy and daddy?

The Big Boy's Toy

This morning was my outing day with Grandpa and Grandma Wong. While we were in the car, the adults had no idea where to go. It was then they decided to go Plaza Singapura for Breakfast.

And as for me, as long as there is a place for me to play and eat, Of course I would LOVE to follow!

While Grandpa and Grandma Wong were having their breakfast, Mummy took me to Carrefour for a walk. As she was shopping for some stuff in the household section, I was of course running up and down the walkway like nobody's business.

There at Carrefour, Mummy caught me in action with the toilet bowl brush in my hands. I was using it to sweep and mop the floor with it. Hmm, no pictures were taken as mummy thought by plain imagination, it is already funny enough.

There was this toy that attracted my attention. For a full 5 minutes, not knowing that it was a car, I was there steering the wheels with it standing upright. Mummy had to give me a hand to put it down for me to ride on it. Below are a few pictures and a video clip showing me playing with the car.

Hey, check out my christmas presents...

I was curious what was in the bottles that uncle Ker Jia bought for me yesterday... I am sure he didn't just buy me colourful bottles, right? However, Daddy said I couldn't play with them just yet...

All that was about to change when Uncle Weng Kin and Auntie Bliss bought me a playdoh set where I could make my very own Playdoh cookies...

For the time being - Daddy allowed me to ONLY open the pink bottle, otherwise mass mayhem might ensure once I open all the other bottles.

Playdoh is FUN! The texture is really interesting.... like soft cookies.... interesting :)

I only realised when we were in the cab that it is in the "central core" of the gardens, which is nearer to the National Institute of Education than to Orchard Road...

As you can see from the picture below, Riley korkor and I were both wearing our caps .... we didn't walk around too long cos both the Mummies said they didn't want us to perspire too much. :p

Needless to say, I was quite amazed by the sound of the waterfall near the restaurant too and before I forget, there were a lot of dog barking too, not sure why. I think they should be saying hello to each other. :)

I saw alot of birds too, there was this bird that I was really facinated about and followed it around until it stopped infront of the water fall. Hmmm, that uncle in the picture must be wondering to himself, why is it so fun to be following the bird around and instead I should be running about enjoying the air here at the Botanical Gardens.

Besides, after a bit of walking we were more fascinated with the 'fishfood' vending machine ... as we tried to figure out how it worked, Aunty Bliss and Mummy were puzzled as to why we were enthralled.... We must have stood there at the machine, pacing up and down for at least 5 mins before both our mummies got bored, and asked us to look for our daddies.... :)

(Yippee, Let's go and look for our daddies!!)

Along the way we also played with a nice little doggie named "mei mei" :)

After a while, both riley korkor and myself got tired... and grumpy... thus we both had to go home for our morning naps.

Shopping for Christmas presents!!

Hello! How is everyone?

Well, Christmas is around the corner and I believe everyone must be busy preparing for it. Well as for our family, the Christmas tree was set up only 3 weeks ago.

Don't even mention the presents, which were not even prepared.

Finally........ finally ............ finally............ Mummy found the time to bring me out to shop for christmas presents. While Mummy was busy shopping, I kept myself busy too - together with Grandpa and Grandma Wong.

I was busy pushing the little pram that Grandpa wong has found. Inside the pram is my favourite character :"BARNEY"!

I got myself christmas presents too.

I got a set of Barney cutlery, a Barney waterbottle, a Barney plate and a cup all with compliments from Grandpa and Grandma Wong.

Oh yes, last but not least. I got myself a cap too! Grandpa,Grandma Wong and Mummy were stunned to find me wearing this cap comfortably. Yes I like this cap, and it has been a long time since I let any cap stay on my head for so long.......... So Grandpa and Grandma Wong bought it for me as a christmas present too!!

hahahah - I have got so many christmas presents this year!

Good morning - welcome to Day 2 !

Here am I in the room - carrying a ball which Mummy bought for me on our walk back... well, Daddy carried me as I was quite sleepy..... well, sleepy until I got back into the room. hehehe.

This picture shows the lovely greenery outside... more so cos I think it rained heavily on Wednesday evening....

All set and ready to go! 3 pairs of shoes... can you spot the smallest one? :)

Here's a picture of me waiting anxiously for the tram to arrive... it was only 10 minutes.... the tram journey was pretty quick - around 15 minutes.

But it seemed an eternity...

Yeah. We have arrived at Underwater World. :)

First, we check out the little fishes in the pool.

I wasn't too keen on them. Not exciting enough....

Now - down the stairs to the main attraction! I think I enjoyed the stairs more than the upcoming main attraction :)

Not sure whether you can make out the fishes swimming in the tank. But this was part of the star attraction - a conveyor belt moving all of us around the tank.... the fish look as if they are having fun. :)

Oh!!! are we going back already??? so soon??? Awwww.....

Above pic was taken at the rooftop pool... Daddy felt it was a waste not to swim. But his decision not to was influenced by the following factors:

1) rain... intermittent but definitely there....

2) I can't join. Cos it was not a child friendly pool. :P

Here's me - tempted by the big and shiny green apples. The nice uncles at the hotel lobby said I could eat some. However, by the look on my face, you'd know Daddy and Mummy doesn't agree.

Today daddy and mummy brought me for my first trip to sentosa!!!

I had a lot of fun running around in my room, and daddy was fine cos it was carpeted thus low possibility of bumps for jeremiah!

In the afternoon daddy and mummy brought me for a walk along the coast. But halfway (as usual) i got tired and refused to walk further. Thus they had no choice but to turn back.

The above Merlion pic was taken by daddy when he went to buy a nice dinner for mummy. :) Daddy later remarked that he hasn't seen such a quiet area whilst looking for food for a long long time. According to Daddy, its a little like his old uni days at Bristol where it was eeriely ghostly quiet, like a dead town. I hope business is better during the weekends, though... otherwise its hard to imagine making a decent buck in Sentosa.

Did I tell you that I like my my room a lot? Its nice and comfy. :)

Hi there. Guess where am i tonight?

I am at kadang kerbau ("k k") hospital - cos i came down with a bad case of urticaria 风漠

Fortunately KK hospital has a lovely 24 hour children's emergency centre - which I visited at approximately 645pm... the doctor took one look and said my back had tons of urticaria rash and that it should be quite itchy.

Of course it is!!! .... heheheh.... eventually she referred to a nice handsome registrar called Dr Mark Lo something.... who asked her to give me a dose of chlorpheniramine...

............... which is indeed very useful as its anti-histamine effects make my itches go away... the Dr did caution Mummy that in certain rare occurrences, the child gets even more active rather than lethargic.

A "BIG" Hello to all the Little children out there.

Happy Children's Day!!

Yippee, I am finally able to enjoy this day together with the little kids out there. Today was a breezy morning and Daddy and Mummy decided to bring me out for breakfast...

Guess where is this place? Yes, this is SWENSENS @ Holland V. Daddy and Mummy decided to splurge a little on me this year as its my 1st celebrated Children Day as a toddler. :)

Daddy had to pass me something to keep me busy as the books aren't enough to keep me seated quietly. There was about 2 to 3 tables seated with parents and kids enjoying the food, while I have to sit here and wait. While waiting, the manager gave me a balloon, and Daddy's and Mummy's face immediately turned white as sheet.

Why??

It was because Daddy and Mummy hated balloons. I guess I might have to give up balloons for the whole of my childhood. I think they must have been badly traumatised during their childhood days by balloons... I'm confused, how scary can balloons be? They can't be as scary as "Domo" - for those who are curious to find out more about Domo, please refer to below for more details)

Ok enough of the balloons and "Domo!" Let's do some exercise while waiting for breakfast to be served. :p

It was a long wait for the breakfast, but I guess it's worth it. Take a look at the picture taken and you will know. I heard Mummy asking Daddy when will I start to 'self-feed'....... Hmm........ Guess what, as soon as the breakfast set was placed in front of me, I stretched out my hand to grab a hotdog to eat.

"WOW my boy has grown up!!" I heard Mummy say. Yes, finally I am showing signs of being able to self-feed.

Men in our lives @ BLK 18

Hi 5! One of my latest move nowadays!!

After dinner today, Daddy has decided to bring us out for a walk. On our way to the playground, we saw a lot of kids following behind their parents with lantern in their hands. We won't want to miss out the fun, so with the lantern that "Ah yi has bought for me, I was out there in the playground soaking up the fun too!!

After going round and round the playground with my trike, we finally decided to head for NTUC. On our way there, we saw something sticking to the wall not quite sure what is it the picture is as shown above.

On our way back, we saw Uncle Francis and Kiet kor kor at the void deck. Daddy and Mummy suggested to Uncle Francis that both Kiet kor kor and me play along at the pavement of our unit while the adults can enjoy their evening together.

Yes I really enjoyed Kiet kor kor's company, you can tell from the pictures taken. There are more but Mummy wanted to keep the blog neat and tidy thus not many pictures were uploaded but only hightlights of the evening. Finally it was time for me to sleep when the adults noticed me rubbing my lil eyes and were sticking to Mummy like a Koala bear to a "Tree".

A dead bird lying at the side of the entrance, poor bird. :(

It was a windy morning, as soon as I woke up from my morning 1st nap, Mummy and Daddy brought me out to Suntec City. They had wanted to get a shoe cabinet for the living room ever since I started to play with the shoes on the rack . Mummy had since got really tired from asking me not to play with those shoes. So Daddy decides to get a shoe cabinet today.

As soon as we reached Suntec, we went straight to Picket & Rail. There we saw the shoe cabinet that we wanted but Daddy didn't drive today so we will be going back there to get it. After that we went to "Mumu Ya" Mummy's favourite Hello Kitty shop. Of course she stopped there for a while and got herself a big tote bag. While Mummy was busy with her Hello Kitty, Daddy brought me to the "Game Room". There, I was so attracted to the wheels of the "Daytona" arcade game. Woo Hoo.. boy did I have fun there. :)

There are my set of cutlery, now where is my FOOD??!! Argghhh!!

After lunch, we passed by a pool full of "Koi". They were all so "BIG" I mean REALLY HUGE "KOIS". They must be fed well there, this is the 1st time I got really close up to fish this huge. :)

My Private Retreat (Ball House)

I have always wanted to visit the Children's Ball Play House in IKEA.... Alas, the sign board says "only 90cm and above", and the last I checked I am nowhere near it yet.

Seeing the disappointed look on my face, Daddy and Mummy bought me a Ball house from Kiddy Palace. Yeah!!

My very own ball house which means, I set rules to it and no one else. :)

Here's the 1st rule, anyone who is below 90cm, cute, bubbly and active can join me. :p

Today, I turned 18 months old!

Don't I look like a commando in the picture above? :) please pardon the diapers.... I'm still in "training mode". :)

Throughout the months I have grown so much. Mummy tells me she can still recall the days when they brought me home from the hospital..... From bunking overnight in the living room to the many sleepless nights during the 1st month....... From the not so active me (then) to the very mobile and active me (now)....... Its simply amazing how things have changed so quickly.... Daddy always tells Mummy he finds it so hard to keep track off the changes that has been going on.

First of all, Daddy and Mummy thank the LORD GOD Jehovah for all the blessings that had been bestowed on us and our family members.

Well, in summary - these are the things that I have picked up through the months:

1) Able to learn to flip @ 4months

2) 1st tooth cut @ 6months (OOUcchh)

3) Able to sit up @7 months

4) Able to cruise @ 9 months

5) Able to wave and give flying kisses (on cue) @ 10 months

6) Able to start walking @ 12months (Yippee!!!).................... and Daddy and Mummy has to learn how to follow me around the house... :)

7) Able to call mama @14 months (Whew!!)

8) Able to call Pa pa @ 16 months

9) Able to start eating normal adult food with the family members @17 months

10) Able to fetch a story book for Mummy to read aloud to me when I want to. :) - also @ 17 months

11) Able to help Mummy pack up the books and toys once my playtime is over

12) Able to help 'Vacuum' the house.................. Daddy says its a smalllllllllll part of the house. Eh, he's so particular, isn't he? :(

13) Able to dance along to the music on tv or handphone ringtones on the MRT Train

14) Able to give Mummy a hug and kiss when she needs one (ORrrrrH so sweet!!)

Ok, that's all for now, as all Mummies would agree - this list will go on and on .... and on..... and on..... and on...... throughout the months.

Editors' note - as God created all babies different, distinct and all special, please do not use my progress charts as a guideline for other baby friends out there...... :P we are all special in our own way! Yeah! Thus comparisons are unhealthy and unnecessary.........

MMMMMmmmmmm, Japanese food is so Yummylicious!!

As usual today is again a "Rainy" Day.

The weather nowadays can be rather unpredictable, sunny one minute and raining the next. We went back home to rest after our Church service. I was too tired to hold on till we get back home and fell asleep while Daddy and Mummy were having breakfast with Grandpa and Grandma Wong.

I thought that today is going to be another "stay home" day but guess what, Mummy suggested going to Tiong Bahru Plaza. Daddy of cos said yes.. as for me.. I tagged along happily. :p

Our 1st stop was supposed to be NTUC to buy groceries, thereafter dinner; but Mummy was tempted by the stores that were brightly lighted along the way to NTUC. We had to stop by "Famous Amos" to get some cookies. You can see me from the first 2 pictures that I was actively posing for Mummy for her pics. :)

After Famous Amos, we headed straight to NTUC. At first we were walking around aimlessly until Mummy took out her little note book, where she wrote down stuff that we need to get for the up coming week. We got back to businesss. While Daddy and mummy were busy, I was busy checking out the stack of packet drinks that was within reach. Of course I wanted to remove it from the rack but then again, no $$$ + high sugar drinks, alas another situation that Mummy will die die not buy for me no matter how I fussed. :(

So they got no choice but to treat me a few pieces of 'Famous Amos" biscuits that they had bought earlier. After paying for the groceries, Daddy decided that we have our dinner at Sakae Sushi instead. We were directed to our seats after 10mins of wait and Daddy immediately placed some orders with the waitress. There were so many plates moving along the conveyer belt which was really interesting. I was then given chop sticks and empty containers to play with while Daddy and Mummy have their long awaited dinner. Yes it was the 1st sushi dinner date that they have been to - ever since I was born. I was given "Chawanmushi" and "Agae Dashi Dofu" which I enjoyed alot.

While Daddy made his way to the counter for payment, Mummy didn't notice that I was eyeing on her "Soft Shell Crab". While she turned around to look for Daddy, I managed to get a leg of the crab and eat it.. YUMS!!!!! :p

This was the most satisfying meal that Daddy and Mummy have had for months together. Of course, I felt the same way too. Thus I was a good and obedient boy during the dinner.

Mummy's Little Domestic Helper (Video)

Mummy has noticed recently that I have been eagerly wanting to help out with her domestic chores when she caught me wiping the floor with a cloth that has been left lying on the floor.

As you can read from the previous posts, I have been spilling my drinks every now and then, although with the "Twink" drink holder the frequency gets lesser. I still tend to spill my drink at times when Mummy is not looking. Not sure if its one of my mischievous act that Mummy has yet to fathom.

One of Mummy's daily chores is to mop the floor during my morning nap. Just yesterday, after my nap, as usual I will be given treats which will include packet drinks like "Milo","Vitagen" etc.. this time round - I spilt the almost emptied "Vitagen" onto the floor. This time Mummy was staring at me with a "Why did you do it again?" look?

My 1st reaction was to look for wet tissues and attempting to wipe the floor with it. Mummy found it very amusing and started to laugh at the flustered look on my face while I was wiping up the spill. hehehehe very poor thing hor?

Btw, I have always wanted to have a go at the vacuum cleaner. I was finally given a chance to use it today. Mummy had managed to catch a clip on the process using her handphone. Please enjoy.

My New Bed

Recently, Mummy and Daddy has been scouting round for a new bed for the lil "O" me, as it occurred to Mummy that I shouldn't be sleeping in the baby cot, especially now that I am 17months old.

Mummy and Daddy can still vividly remember how I looked when I was a little infant sleeping soundly in the cot. As the cot has always been the place where I sleep, it has never crossed Mummy's mind that I could go crazy over the newly transformed bed (from a baby cot). This 'new' bed has been my plaything since it was converted on Sunday.

I was climbing up and down the bed on my own. Yes on my own! I am now a mobile little toddler who is capable of such moves. No worries to all the Aunties and Uncles who are reading this now, as there are 2 thick cushions underneath the bed to cushion me when I fall.

Daddy was telling Mummy that on the 1st night while I was sleeping on the toddler bed, I fell down and landed on the cushion. I did wail a little but I continued sleeping as I was too tired. So Daddy had to put me back to sleep in the bed. Nowadays, Mummy has been busy picking me up from the corner of the bed during the wee hours. Now as I can climb up and down the bed, I can go look for Daddy and Mummy at any time of the night...... a nice improvement from my earlier stage, when I wasn't able to do so when I was 'caged' in the baby cot.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if this was something that Mummy forsaw, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten my new plaything.

Thank you Mummy for fixing up my new toy and sorry for disturbing your sleep at night. :)

Here I am - dancing to the rythme of one of the DVDs that mummy has recently bought for me. It wasn't quite difficult to spot me dancing to the music as I am full of "GROOVES". Mummy can also testify that I will always move to the music each time I hear it. Be it the ringtone of the handphone or the songs from the CD shops or music in the supermarket. If you are there with me at that point in time, you will definitely spot me doing the moves. heheheh

There were several times she caught me dancing infront of the TV each time Hi5 start to sing and dance. I think my own choreograph dance moves are quite exciting, don't you? Although its nothing compared to the moves of Hi5, but all these moves were formed out of my enthusiasim. Its still a little bit amateurish :p

There is also another programme that I like very much.. recently mummy has managed to get me the DVD too. Its called the "In the Night Garden".

After the Church Service this morning, Mummy suggested we pop by Ikea Alexandra for a short while before heading home.

From what I can remember, IKEA @ Alexandra has been undergoing major renovations for the past half a year at least.

Well, quite a bit of Ikea is still under wraps when we visited again today with uncle Jonathan... I found this moving light very very interesting. As you can see, I'm trying to chase the moving lights.

It's quite fun, believe me... :)

Active Sunday!

Today, Mummy and Daddy brought me to church... the strange thing was that although I woke up bright and early at 6am for my morning milk, I still wasn't in the least bit sleepy when the church service began at 830am.

Oh dear.

Mummy tried for 30 minutes to rock me to sleep using her Mums-In-Mind sling... but I was just too distracted with all the activity around me :)

Below is what Mummy would refer to as a good "father-son" moment when we were in our church's cry-room... Daddy is trying to teach me what fits into the puzzle and what their names are.

I am trying my best to look immensely interested. Is it a good attempt? Hahahahahaha...

Last but not least, this is one of my more mischievous moments... spreading my arms wide while relaxing on one of the blue sofas in the church's cry-room...

What's that in my hand?

Oh yes, forgot to tell you the story of how Mummy bravely said some words in Malay just to get me this Toy Ball. Its part of the publicity for a new Local Movie called " Kallang Roar - The Movie".

They had this stand near the entrance of HMV Heeren last Sunday :) Mummy and Daddy brought me there for a short walkaround.

Mummy brought me to the NTUC supermarket today doing her normal groceries shopping. After that was done, she stopped by a store where I saw her buying "Pao Pao Cha" which she refused to let me hold - let alone drink - it.

I was so disappointed and started to be really fussy, thus mummy had no choice but to get me a can of nice cold SEASONS soya bean drink from the nearby food court :)

Do I look contented or what? *BIG GRIN*

(Of course, Mummy forget to tell you that only then would I allow her to park her "Pao Pao Cha" in my pram) Can you spot it?? :p

I was given a packet of Marigold LESS SWEET - Chrysanthemum Tea Drink. Did you notice the word "LESS SWEET"?? It was a nice laid back afternoon enjoying my half packet on my IKEA Ektop sofa. What more could a toddler be asking for? Of course, I could ask mummy to let me do this more often. Mummy can we? can we PLEASE!! :p

Nasty Fall Happy Me

I got a slight abrasion on my lower right lip.

I was too active nowadays and keep getting myself into trouble. Mummy always tell me that its a matter of time before I got into trouble, and true enough I got a cut from a fall when I hit the rubbish bin. Well, I cried out "LOUD". Yes, "LOUD" cos it really hurts. Mummy was shocked to hear me crying so loudly and quickly carried me up to comfort me. Thank GOD it wasn't anything serious. :p

Mummy then decided to switch on my recent favourite "DVD" "Bee Movie". Well from the pictures you can tell that I really enjoyed the "Bee Movie DVD". Mummy had to replay the scene (which I found funny) 3 times in order for me to forget about the fall.

Hello everyone, finally there is something for Mummy to write about since the last post...

Those who are on close terms with my Mummy will know that I have been on the strict diet which Mummy has been monitoring since I started taking semi-solid food.

Below is the list :

List of forbidden food in my diet

1. No sugar drinks (even if I am allowed to drink milo its always the very diluted milo) (URRGGHH!!)

2. No salt

3. No deep fried food

4. No honey

5. The listing goes on and on.. until further notice

Ok, back to the topic ......................... No more SPILLS! Why no spills? Well, this was because Mummy has got me the "Twink Box" meant for beverages through one of the online stores. Oh, by the way - please do not be mistaken that I do not have those spill proof beakers. Yes, in fact - I do have a lot of them.

Why do I need one? Well, Mummy has been complaining that she has been mopping the floor every now and then after I start squeezing the drinks once it is handed over to me. (it is normally almost emptied packet).

With this "Twink Box" I can't squeeze any of the packet drink anymore and Mummy doesn't have to mop the floor so often in 1 day. :)

Well at this moment, this may seem like a good solution for Mummy, but guess what!! I realised that I don't have to squeeze the packet drink in order to get the packet to overflow.

I can simply tip over the packet drink - which does the job too.... hehehehehehehe one of my tricky moves nowadays to keep mummy very busy :p

A Splashing good time!!

Today is a very special day for me.

Yes, special.

Why special?

This was because today is my first time in the pool!

Daddy and Mummy brought me to Grandpa and Grandma Wong's condominium in my new bicycle. Mummy had secretly packed my swimming diapers and swimming suit in her BIG bag which she would carried. No one noticed it, not even Daddy, let alone me.

Mummy has been hesitating in the past few months as to whether when will I be allowed to play in the pool. For a start (or rather as a trial run), I have been given a pail of water during my bath time with 2 to 3 bath toys in it. For the past few weeks, it has proven to mummy that I like splashing water all over while she was bathing me.

Yes, today I can finally play in the pool. Woooohooooo!!

I was having a fun time playing in the pool with Grandpa, Daddy and Mummy. There will be more pool sessions to come..... yeahhhh!!!!

The Newly renovated IKEA

Helloz everybody,

As we woke up early today, Daddy and Mummy decided to head down to IKEA Alexandra for breakfast. Oh well, maybe for brunch - cos the breakfast is only for 1/2hr with limited breakfast sets.

While Daddy went to buy lunch, mummy brought me to the eating area's playground. I had so much fun checking out the new playground.

Unlike the children's play area (with minimum height of 90cm) this playground does not have any height restriction. Currently, I am standing at about 80cm and may require a fair bit of time before I reach 90cm.

I am rather pleased with this playground in the food area. Who needs to play at the playground outside the entrance when I have this? :p

My new toy from IKEA bought today... encourages me to play make believe in the living room....... :)

Grandpa wong and grandma wong bought this for me as we made a short shopping trip stop at kiddy palace@marina square.

It was quite funny as five adults stood around me to observe my reaction to the various selection of different bicycle models.

Ha ha

anyway i like my new bicycle lots , cos now i can get pushed around while i mimic the action and sounds as i try to imagine actually riding one :)
